This was my very first day of practicum – I went over a brief overview of mixtures.
This PowerPoint was helpful to show explicit examples of what I was talking about, and it gave students an idea of what mixtures and solutions look like. Students worked alone initially to write or draw 3-5 mixtures, then they worked in groups to sort their mixtures into homogenous or heterogeneous. Students were able to give examples that they had seen in every day life, such as tea, or salt water.
By the end of the lesson, students were able to differentiate between heterogeneous and homogenous mixtures – using their own examples and words!
Here is the hand out!
Core Competency: Collaborating
Facet: Working collectively – Students combine their efforts with those of others to effectively accomplish learning and tasks.
Profile: I share my ideas and try to connect them with othersβ ideas, I ask clarifying questions and check for understanding when appropriate, and I test my ideas with others and consider their input.
First Peoples Principles of Learning: Learning involves patience and time.
