I found a check-in that was inspired heavily by https://www.blobtree.com/pages/frontpage , and I used it to see how students were feeling in their own words, rather than just the energy that they were emitting. This activity was important to me as it promoted the importance of the student as a whole rather than just a learner.
The students reflected their feelings extremely well, describing why they were feeling a certain way, what has made this happen, etc. I would like to use this in my future classroom as I am beginning my teaching journey, it shows and reflects how I view students, as well as how important that recognition of students as whole beings is to my future practice.
