On my last day of EDUC 490, I asked my students if they would share two things they learned, two things they enjoyed and (at least) one wish they had for me. The idea was to see what the students took away from my time as a TC in their classroom, many students saying similar things learned or enjoyed – this allowed me to reflect on why those were the lessons they took something from. How did I teach those lessons? Were they hands-on? Discussion based? Group? Solo?
The last section was meant for something the students would have liked me to do – such as “I wish Ms. Sayle would talk slower” or “I wish Ms. Sayle would show more examples” – these suggestions will transfer into my next practicum. I plan to use more visual examples, more participation in discussion, as well as learn to better manage pacing or nerves!
